When I thought about who I’d like to dedicate this book to, my father, Harry Burton Johnson, came to mind. Wild Horses is about wild things and Montana. My father loved both.
The moment he saw Montana he wanted to live here. That’s how my family ended up living in a cabin in the Gallatin Canyon when I was young.
He made us a zip line off the mountain, built us a log playhouse fort and piled up snow to fill it with water to make us a skating rink out front. He made rubber-guns and kites. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t make.
My father had such a joy for life and he passed it on to me. He loved Montana and he passed that love on to me, as well.
That’s why this book is for him. Miss you, Dad.
