How’s she so hot? All I see is a surgeon’s fine work.
Use the word หล่อ [làw] or รูปหล่อ [rôop làw] for guys. If he looks good because he’s dressed well, girls often use the word สมาร์ท [sà-máht] or sometimes the word เท่ [tây], which means you just look smooth, chic or stylish. A newer one you might hear girls use is จิ๊บ [jíhp]. This means that a guy is totally hot, or that they just met a really hot guy.

Handsome and stylish!
A funny way to say that someone is goodlooking enough is ไปวัดไปวาได้ [bpai wút bpai wah dâi]. You can also say ใช้ได้ [chái dâi] or if you want to mean just average looking say เฉย ๆ [chěri chěri].
• ไม่ น่ารักหรอก ก็ พอ ไปวัดไปวาได้

Ugly, Plain and Rotten Faces
Now for the flipside—the not-so-goodlooking. The word น่าเกลียด [nâh glìat] is the general term you’ll find for ugly in the dictionary. But I think it’s a bit too rough and translates more as ass-ugly. If you just want to say that someone is unattractive or homely, try using ขี้เหล่ [kêe lày]. I’ve also seen it written as ขี้เหร่ [kêe lày] or ขี้ริ้วขี้เหร่ [kêe rúi kêe rày]. I normally save the word น่าเกลียด [nâh glìat] for exceedingly ugly individuals or for those prone to do ugly things. A new word I’ve come across lately is เหียก [hìak]. This would be someone who’s just completely butt-ugly. Another new slang word you might hear for not handsome is the word อบกบ [’òhp gòhp]. A sarcastic way to say someone doesn’t look good is ดูไม่จืด [doo mâi jùet].
• รูปเรา เอง อยา่ ดู นะ... ขี้เหล่
rôop rao ’ayng yàh doo ná…KÊE-LÀY

If you want to say someone doesn’t look good because they are making a sullen or rotten face then use one of the following two, หน้าบูด [nâh bòot] or หน้าบึ้ง [nâh bûeng].

Young and Eye-Catching
If you want to call someone a teenager use the word วัยสะรุ่น [wai sà rôon] or วัยโจ๋ [wai jǒe] instead of just วัยรุ่ [wai rôon]. For someone or something that is eye-catching or trendy try using the word เริ่ด [rêrt]. Someone who seems young and fresh can be called ซิง [sihng] or เอ๊าะ [’áw]. The words เฟี้ยว [féeo], เฟี้ยวฟ้าว [féeo fów] and เฮ้ว [háyo] have a similar meaning. They all describe a youthful way of looking or dressing.
• ไม่ เข้าใจภาษา วัยสะรุ่น ล่ะ

Old and Unmarried
If you’re not young then you’re old. Here are two favorites of mine. The first one is the Thai word for ancient repeated twice with the second syllable of the first word, โบราณ ๆ [boe-ráhn boe-rahn]. This one can also be used with how one may act, as in old-fashioned. The second is the English word for dinosaur, ไดโนเสาร์ [dai noe sǎo]. Both of these are funnier than the normal word for old, แก่ [gàe]. I’ve also seen the word โอลด์ [oen] written in some periodicals as well.
• ชอบ แนว โบราณ ๆ ด้วยนะ
châwp naeo BOE-RÁHN BOE-RAHN dôoi ná
I like the old-school style, too.

If you want to be specific that it’s an older woman try using สาวน้อย [sǎo nói]. If you want to go further and say that she is older and
